What You'll Do
The ideal candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
- Participating in daily debriefs and weekly morning meetings to stay informed and aligned with team goals
- Greeting customers with enthusiasm and using the sales process to understand their needs and find the right combination of products and services to meet their goals
- Informing, educating, and making recommendations based on customers' riding style, experience, and goals - whether bicycles, accessories, clothing, or other cycling-related products and/or services
- Continuously expanding knowledge of the products we carry, including features, use, and care, through regular training and development opportunities
- Maintaining Trek University Guide Status by completing Trek U modules to further develop knowledge of our products, services, and procedures
- Assisting with daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, processing website orders, cleaning, and organizing
- Maintaining all aspects of store inventory and merchandising, including reordering, receiving, restocking, product placement, price auditing, cycle counts, and more
- Following up with customers and managing quotes, lead lists, and open layaways
- Maintaining knowledge of sales and promotions, price changes, and policies regarding payment and exchanges
- Preparing customer bikes for service tickets and hanging parts on new bikes waiting to be built by our service technicians
- Guiding customers on local area, riding conditions, and other trail-related topics
- Installing vehicle rack systems and performing safety checks for customers
- Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization throughout the day
- Performing other duties as needed or assigned
Requirements
Requirements include:
- Availability to work weekends, specifically Saturdays from 10am to 6pm and Sundays from 11am to 4pm
- Minimum 1 year of experience working as a retail sales associate, with bike shop experience preferred
- A passion for cycling and a desire to promote the benefits of a cycling lifestyle and culture
- Able to work both independently and as a member of a team, committed to providing excellent sales and customer service
- Self-motivated, positive, and friendly, with a zest for adventure in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Organized, detail-oriented, and possessing strong written and spoken communication skills
- Able to safely lift and carry 50lbs on a regular basis
- Interest in developing own skills and knowledge
Nice to Have
Preferred candidates will have knowledge and experience in any or all of the following systems and tools:
- Knowledge of Ascend POS
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Office
- Previous experience working in a Trek dealership
- Familiarity with the Trek product lineup
- Cycling enthusiast with a passion for the sport
